Editorial Policy
EvalShare’s editorial policy is short by design. We believe in a small number of clear rules that protect the reader’s trust. Every contributor, freelancer, and reviewer at EvalShare follows these rules.
Rule 1: Independence
Manufacturers do not see our reviews before publication. We do not accept payment, gifts, or “review units” in exchange for positive coverage. We do not delete a negative review in exchange for sponsorship.
Rule 2: Disclosure
Every product review page discloses the affiliate relationships on that page. Every post authored by a paid contributor is marked “Sponsored” or “Partner Content” at the top, with a description of the sponsorship terms. Every reviewer’s name and bio is on the Authors page.
Rule 3: Fact-Checking
Every numerical claim (resolution, weight, speed, dimensions, runtime, price) is checked against the manufacturer’s published spec sheet and our own measurement. Every claim about a competitor is checked against the competitor’s published material. When we get a number wrong, we correct it in-line with a dated correction notice at the bottom of the page.
Rule 4: Corrections
If a reader reports a factual error, we investigate within 7 business days. Confirmed errors are corrected in-line, with a dated correction notice. We do not silently fix errors and hope nobody noticed.
To report an error, email [email protected] with the URL of the page and a description of the error.
Rule 5: Updates
Reviews are dated and updated. Every review page shows:
- The original publication date
- The last-updated date
- A summary of significant updates (when the page content changed materially)
A review with no update since 2024 is flagged with a “Last updated 18+ months ago” notice on the page.
Rule 6: Conflict of Interest
Reviewers and contributors must disclose any financial relationship (stock ownership, consulting fees, prior employment) with any company they review. EvalShare’s staff do not hold individual stock positions in any product manufacturer whose products they review.
Rule 7: Sourcing
Every claim that is not a direct measurement is sourced. We do not present third-party research as our own findings. We link to the underlying source. When we cite a study, we summarize accurately and link to the original.
Rule 8: AI Disclosure
EvalShare uses AI tools (large language models) to assist with first-draft prose, grammar checking, and data summarization. All factual claims, product verdicts, and final copy are reviewed, edited, and signed off by a human reviewer before publication. The reviewer’s name appears at the top of every review.
Rule 9: No Astroturfing
We do not plant fake reviews, fake comments, or fake social media accounts to promote our content. We do not pay for reviews from “verified” reviewers on Amazon or other platforms. Our traffic comes from organic search, social media (where we post under our real name), and direct visits.
Rule 10: Reader Privacy
We do not sell reader data. We do not share email addresses with third parties. We use first-party analytics (Plausible) and minimal cookies. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
